Generations of Pride

SoUUlful Queers

Join us on June 21 at 10:30 am. Please join us for our upcoming Pride service, “Generations of Pride,” centered on the theme of “Navigating Love.” This intergenerational service will explore how different eras have experienced and expanded the boundaries of love, highlighting gay history and the changing landscape of LGBTQ+ liberation over time. We will feature personal reflections from Baby Boomer, Millennial, and Gen Z perspectives, alongside inspiring readings from queer visionary Leo Herrera, civil rights icon Bayard Rustin, and The Queer Beatitudes. With special guest choir Harmonix, we invite you to join us for this meaningful celebration of community, history, and our shared journey toward a more inclusive future.

We warmly invite you to join us in person, or if you prefer, you can also participate online. We look forward to seeing you there!

Our service streams at 10:30 am to Youtube and Zoom (meeting ID is 466-677-668 and the password is 454623).

Join us for coffee in the Community Room after the service.

Giving in Action this Sunday – PFLAG Denver

The Giving in Action organization for this week is PFLAG DENVER.

PFLAG Denver is committed to creating a world where transgender, nonbinary, and gender-diverse individuals—and the people who love them—are safe, supported, and celebrated. Through free peer-led support groups, including programs specifically designed for families, friends, partners, and allies of transgender loved ones, PFLAG Denver helps build understanding, connection, and community. In addition, PFLAG Denver invests in the next generation through its Memorial Scholarship Program, which over the last 20 years has provided $120,000 in financial support to LGBTQIA+ students and active allies who are making a difference in their communities. PFLAG Denver’s support programs include SOFFA (Significant Others, Family, Friends, and Allies) groups and other peer-led resources designed to help loved ones navigate and affirm a transgender family member’s journey. Name Tag Wall Cleanup

DON’T PANIC! It was time to clean up the name tag wall, as it was bursting at the seams. It looks very different and it might take you a minute to find your name tag on Sunday morning.

Blue name tags, based on the current list of members, are on the wall in alphabetical order. White name tags, visitors and friends, were removed so that we can ascertain who is still attending regularly. All white name tags will be alphabetized on tables near the name tag wall. After the service, you can add your white name tag to the alphabetized name tag wall.

If you cannot find your name tag, we apologize in advance! Please email Leslie at msleslie@fusden.org and she will help you find it or will create a new name tag for you. Additionally, if you would like to update your name tag, you can reach out to Leslie for assistance.

Book Discussion Group Forming – This is An Uprising

(Thanks to Paul Riederer for the post)

This Is an Uprising! Our Democracy Action Team at First Unitarian is convening a book discussion group on the book “This Is an Uprising: How Nonviolent Revolt Is Shaping the Twenty-First Century” by Mark Engler and Paul Engler. The authors explain Nonviolent Direct Action is not just a philosophy, it is a strategy that we can learn to develop together, and then put into practice. Discussion Group conveners are from the Democracy Action Team and are Arnie Carter, Evelyn Hanssen, and Paul Riederer. To join the group and mailing list announcing future discussion sessions, jus email your contact info to fusdrapidresponse@gmail.com and type in the subject line: “I want to join the Uprising study group” or simply call or text Evelyn Hanssen at 720-380-0605 or Paul Riederer at 720-935-2145. Waitlist for Free House Concerts This Summer

Would you like to attend a house concert this summer—hear great music, enjoy delicious food, and meet people of different generations—but the cost makes it difficult? Here’s an opportunity for you.

Occasionally, ticket holders have to cancel at the last minute and donate their seats. Rather than let those spots go empty, which is disappointing to musicians and chefs alike, we’re creating a waitlist for people who would love to attend.

Fill out this short contact form, and when a seat opens up, a group message will be sent out. The first to respond gets the seat. More details are on the form.

It’s a win-win for everyone involved—and a wonderful way to enjoy an evening of music, food, and community.

Please direct any questions to Charlotte Braud-Kern 720-938-7423 or charlottebraudkern@gmail.com

Bad Faith: documentary Film

(Thanks to Jane Ashley for the post)

This film tells the story of how evangelical Christians co-opted the right wing of the Republican party. “A great and timely and powerful film, filled with the dread this moment engenders; the cynical misuse of religion to advance aims diametrically the opposite of Christianity’s mission.” — Ken Burns

Looking for That Older Car

(Thanks to Nina Nadeau for the post)

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a reliable older vehicle. Colfax — which, as many of you know, sometimes feels like Denver’s unofficial obstacle and bumper-car course — has succeeded in claiming my vehicle.

If anyone has a car they’re planning to sell, donate, or get rid of, please call or message me.
