Religious Exploration
Welcome to our Religious Exploration
Each Sunday, children, youth, and families join our congregation for the beginning of the service in the sanctuary. There is a Peaceful Play area just to the left of the stage where nursery and preschool aged children can play quietly. After a Time for All Ages, children who would like to join our classes are sung out of the sanctuary to join their age groups (Nursery and Preschool classrooms located upstairs; K/1 and 2nd-5th classrooms located downstairs). Please sign your child/children in before service at the Family Welcome table if they will be attending classes. After the service, parents or caregivers go to classrooms to sign your child/children out. If you would like to enjoy a cup of coffee first, please do so!
Middle Schoolers join our congregation in the service until the younger children are sung out after a Time For All Ages. Youth are then invited to join us in the teen space downstairs for the remainder of the service.

Our Most Frequently Asked Questions
Absolutely. The safety of our children here at First Unitarian Society of Denver is of the utmost importance. Every staff member and volunteer is background checked without exception.ex.
No, you do not have to be a member of our church for your child or youth to participate. We welcome visitors and longtime friends along with members to participate in our classes.
We do ask that each participant be registered for the Religious Exploration program by their third visit so that we can effectively communicate with families and plan for the size of our classes.
Registration in the Religious Exploration program is not the same as becoming a member of our church.
No, there is no fee to participate.
Worship begins at 10:00 am on Sundays, where we ask that all children, youth, and families begin with us in our Sunday Worship in the Sanctuary. After our Time for All Ages, children and families are free to stay for worship, play in our Peaceful Playspace, or join us downstairs for Sunday children's programming. Our youth are welcome to stay in worship or join us in the Youth Zone downstairs
No, we need you to stay on site while your child is with us in programming.
While we understand that it can be helpful to have your children with in a safe, supportive environment while you leave, we are not a childcare facility and require families to stay on church grounds while their children participate in our programming.
Oh, we're so glad you asked! We absolutely welcome volunteers and have many ways for you to get involved with our programming, both on Sundays and beyond, and with varying levels of commitment.
Some of out volunteer options include: Bringing snacks, event setup and cleanup, serving on the Religious Exploration Team, planning an event, helping in worship, greeting families, or even facilitating Sunday programming.
For middle school and high school volunteers, we typically do not encourage parents or legal guardians to serve as Youth Advisors while their youth are participants in either our middle school or high school youth groups. This aligns with our practice of allowing middle school and high school youth to have autonomy while fostering their spiritual community.
To volunteer, please send an email to msleslie@fusden.org with your contact information and areas of interest for volunteering.
Register for RE
Parents need to enroll their children in the RE program. This helps us communicate upcoming events and changes to programming. It also helps us better manage our room resources. Our registration process is now 100% paperless. Please either register here or visit our Welcome Table on Sundays.
Religious Exploration Beyond Sunday Mornings
Family CORE Circle
Family CORE Circle is held the third Friday of each month from 6-7:30pm in the Community Room. It is part potluck, part playdate and a great opportunity to bond and share with other FUSD families of school-aged (and preschool aged) children. "Grandparents" will be on hand to guide the children in play while the parents can discuss various topics and deepen their acquaintance with each other and the church community in general.
Email bravodenver@gmail.com for more information or to RSVP.
Mark your calendars and join us for future events!
