Join us on July 19th at 10:30 am. Music has shaped the way I experience the world, not only as a violinist and composer, but as a person. Through stories from my life and career, I’ll explore how listening with our ears, our hearts, and our spirits can help us discover purpose, deepen our connections with one another, and open us to the idea of God’s presence in everyday life. Along the way, I’ll share brief violin performances that bring each idea to life, making the music part of the conversation rather than simply a performance.

Starting on June 7th, activities for all ages (4+) will be offered in the chapel after a Time For All Ages. We have one service at 10:30 am for the summer.
Please mark your calendars- there will be no RE activities offered on the following dates: July 12, and July 19.

If you identify on the LGBTQIA+ spectrum, you’re welcome to join our newly formed group at FUSD, SoUUful Queers. Our next meeting will be July 19 at 12:30 after the service, in the chapel upstairs. The topic for discussion will be the future of this group, its leadership, organization, purpose, and goals. Please join us if you can!

Community Chamber Choir Concert – July 24

Join Wyatt Smith and 20+ friends from CU Boulder and beyond as they premier 4 choral works by local composers! This FREE choral concert will also feature a string quartet! Concert will be held in the FUSD Sanctuary at 7:30 pm! We can’t wait to see you there!

Revised and Amended First Unitarian Church Bylaws

The congregation will be voting on the revised by-laws on October 11th, 2026. In preparation for that meeting, educational forums will be held on July 26th, August 30th, and September 27th of this year after the second church service. At least one member of the by-laws task force and of the board of trustees will be present for each of these sessions. Please review the attached revised bylaws, and bring any questions.

OWL Offered to 2nd and 3rd Graders September to November
|
Our Whole Lives (OWL) Program to be offered in the fall of 2026 for 2nd and 3rd graders. This program offers comprehensive, age-appropriate, and values-based sexuality education in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.
OWL is guided by the following two principles: parents and caregivers have primary responsibility for their children’s sexuality education and sexuality education happens through open and honest communication among adults and their children.
Please complete this form to reserve your child’s spot. Enrollment is limited to ensure a high-quality experience, with a minimum of 8 students and a maximum of 12 students per class. Early registration is encouraged, as classes will only be held if minimum enrollment is met.

DON’T PANIC! It was time to clean up the name tag wall, as it was bursting at the seams. It looks very different and it might take you a minute to find your name tag on Sunday morning.
Blue name tags, based on the current list of members, are on the wall in alphabetical order. White name tags, visitors and friends, were removed so that we can ascertain who is still attending regularly. All white name tags will be alphabetized on tables near the name tag wall. After the service, you can add your white name tag to the alphabetized name tag wall.
If you cannot find your name tag, we apologize in advance! Please email Leslie at msleslie@fusden.org and she will help you find it or will create a new name tag for you. Additionally, if you would like to update your name tag, you can reach out to Leslie for assistance.

Seeking a Host/Host Team for Our Silver & Gold Luncheon.
We’re looking for that special someone who loves bringing people together and showing off their natural hosting flair. This fall, we’ll once again celebrate our cherished elders with our annual Silver & Gold Luncheon — a tradition filled with good food, warm conversation, and the joy of connection.
This event is a gift to some of the wisest and most wonderful members of our community, and we need a host or hostess to help make it shine. You don’t have to do it alone — if you have a friend who’d enjoy partnering with you, teams are absolutely welcome.

Special Call Funds Distributed

This year’s Auction Special Call has been donated to the League of Women’s Voters (LWV) and the ACLU to assist with the November election.
Thanks to the generosity of our members, checks in the amount of $11,500 were presented to these organizations at the July 12th Sunday Church Service. Representatives from the LWV were present and held a short session after church in the sanctuary informing us on how we can further assist with their efforts to get the vote out and maintain fair elections.
Our church will continue to coordinate with both these organizations on the upcoming election. Further information on how members of our congregation can assist these critical efforts will be forthcoming.

First Unitarian Society of Denver and the Reproductive Justice Initiative (inactive) received an award from Cobalt at their Summer Celebration on Wednesday, July 8th. Cobalt is an advocacy nonprofit dedicated to reproductive rights and abortion access and has partnered with FUSD for many years. FUSD members, Kimberly Urish, Tyler Watlington, Jane Ashley, and Richard Woodruff, were at the event to celebrate Cobalt’s achievements in the last year. Attention First Unitarian Drivers: Parking Pass Update
|
Currently we are collecting all LAZ parking passes—including both rearview mirror hang tags and paper passes. Please bring your old parking pass to church this Sunday to exchange it for a new one. A parking table will be available in the Community Room to collect old passes and answer any questions you may have.
Due to a change in management of the Alta parking lot located across Lafayette Street, new parking passes for this lot will now be labeled “FUSD Church Parking.”
Please note that the approved parking days and hours remain unchanged:
Weekdays: Parking is permitted after 6:00 PM
Saturdays & Sundays: Parking is permitted all day

Concert to Raise Funds for Aid Organizations in Gaza

Acclaimed local musicians Anneke Dean and Charles Mertens will fill the Sanctuary with indie folk and Americana including songs from Anneke’s newly released solo album Unfamiliar Skies. We’ll be offering desserts and beverages during intermission. All donations from the evening will go toward supporting vetted aid organizations providing food and essential services in Gaza like Watermelon Relief and World Central Kitchen.
Please allow extra time to find parking on the street or come into the lobby to pick up a pass for the parking lot on the opposite side of Lafayette St. We request that able-bodied persons leave closer parking for those who need it. The entrance is wheelchair accessible by a ramp and there are accessible and non-gendered bathrooms.
