Making Minyan: The Responsibility of Togetherness

Michael Kengmana

Join us on July 20th at 10:30 am.  We are 6 months into this current presidential administration, but it certainly feels much longer than that. The overwhelming news cycle that inundate us with chaos and heartbreak have left many of us tired. Exhausted. It is in times like these that the responsibility of being together is so important. However, we live in time of polarized politics, when the social contract of our society seems to be unraveling, and spiritual connection can feel harder and harder to come by. In these times when the world feels so fractured we may be facing the question not just of how do we come together, but what does “together” even mean? The hope is that this service is a step towards asking this question, and even perhaps moving towards new ways to possibly define “togetherness” in our world.

We warmly invite you to join us in person, or if you prefer, you can also participate online. We look forward to seeing you there!

Our service streams to Youtube and Zoom (meeting ID is 466-677-668 and the password is 454623).

Join us for coffee in the Community Room after the service.

Caring Committee

(Thanks to Colleen Bryan, Caring Committee for the post)

CHRISTMAS IN JULY!

Looking for your next way to connect in love with fellow congregants? The Caring Committee has a couple of opportunities for your consideration:

  • Long-time card captain Sally Madsen announced her intention to step down at the end of December, giving us plenty of time to recruit a new person and train them to a high level of comfort. The job coordinates monthly card writers and ensures a smooth transfer of materials from month-to-month. Could YOU be our new card captain? For more info, email Colleen Bryan at colleen.bryan@att.net or talk to Sally Madsen for the low-down on the role.
  • Monthly dispatchers receive requests for help from community members and direct the time and energy of FUSD volunteers to address those needs. All months in 2025 have a dispatcher except for December. If you’re planning to be in town that month, able to check the website each day, and might enjoy rallying your fellow congregants to aid each other during difficult transitions, message Colleen Bryan for r more information.

Meanwhile, thanks to Danica Larson and Bikes Together for a wonderfully successful bike clinic in June. And to each of you who donated to this worthy non-profit!
