Risking Joy, Even Now

Rev. Lydia Ferrante-Roseberry

Join us on June 29th at 10:30 am.  Wow, there’s a lot to be somber, even frightened, about these days. A lot to fight about, resist, reimagine. Yes, our resistance is necessary. And . . . so is the balancing act of joyfulness. In this service, we’ll lean into spiritual teachers with lessons in joyful living, inviting their wisdom into these times.

About Rev. Lydia Ferrante-Roseberry

Rev. Lydia Ferrante-Roseberry seeks to weave joy and justice into the everyday. After 25 years in parish ministry, she is currently a community organizer with Together CO and a congregational consultant with the UU based Stewardship for Us team. Most important to today’s topic, Lydia is a co-founding collaborator of Interplay Colorado. Interplay is an embodied spiritual practice combining playful movement, storytelling, and song. It has changed her life again and again.

We warmly invite you to join us in person, or if you prefer, you can also participate online. We look forward to seeing you there!

Our service streams to Youtube and Zoom (meeting ID is 466-677-668 and the password is 454623).

Join us for coffee in the Community Room after the service.

Denver Pride Parade – Sunday, June 29

The Denver Pride Parade is on Sunday, June 29. Parking at the Center will not be available that day. You will also not be able to cross Franklin from 13th to 17th.

The parade participants will gather in Cheeseman park and march up Franklin St to 17th Ave, turning left at 17th and marching to Lincoln St.

You will be able to view the parade on 17th Ave.

March with UUs in the Denver Pride Parade – June 29th

It’s Denver Pride weekend, and while lots of companies are stepping back on celebrating this year, we’re stepping up. In partnership with other area congregations, we’re both in the parade and with a booth all weekend long.

If you want to join our group marching in the parade, head to the southeast corner of Cheesman Park (Green Gathering Area) to find Xander and the banner. Arriving between 9:00–10:00am will help you be ready when it’s our group’s time to step off. The route this year runs along 17th and then turns back to Civic Center Park due to construction on Colfax.

Due to the massive number of groups participating, expect to be out for a few hours. Water and sunscreen are highly recommended. Expect parking to be challenging, and carpool if possible. You can help us know to expect you by signing up here.

If you want to watch the parade, but not march, find a good spot on the route, and celebrate all the diversity our community has to offer.

Volunteer with Guns to Gardens

(Thanks to Julie Meyers for the post)

Guns to Gardens is an amazing organization that lets people drop off their unwanted firearms which are then converted to garden tools. There ia one remaining event coming up – July 19. You can help in two ways. Circulate this poster anywhere you hang out. Volunteer on July 19. I have done it before and it is well organized and very gratifying.
