New Member Welcome – Anne Severson

Anne Severson, New MemberMeet Anne Severson!

For a long time, I was trying to figure out my spirituality on my own. I’d left behind the Lutheran church I grew up in—grateful for the sense of ritual and community, but weighed down by beliefs that didn’t feel like mine. I loved the idea of church, but I knew, deep down, I was looking for something more: a place that brought more love, justice, and peace into the world.

So for years I wandered. I read books, journaled, listened to podcasts, traveled, and did yoga. I searched for meaning in quiet moments, but often felt unsure—what should I explore next? Who could I talk to? Where were others asking the same questions?

Then, one day, I found FUSD pinned on my map. I honestly don’t remember saving it, but something nudged me to go. That first Sunday, something clicked. I didn’t have to translate or filter what I was hearing—it just fit. The words, the energy, the openness. This community put language to feelings I’d been carrying for years. That sense of relief, of coming home to something I hadn’t quite known I was missing, was profound.

Since then, every person I’ve met here has helped me grow—kind, welcoming souls who’ve gently stretched my view of the world and reminded me that I don’t have to walk this path alone.
