Welcome – Clay Tillack & Bob Kendzior
We met on January 1, 1998, in north suburban Chicago, where we both lived. Clay was an Intellectual Property attorney working for a large Chicago law firm, and Bob was a senior-level marketing executive working in the retail foodservice industry.
We both fell instantly in love with one another, and thus by the Spring, we had purchased and moved into a home together. But we had to wait another sixteen years before we were able to marry. Because Illinois was slow to change its marriage laws, we flew to Burlington, Vermont, where we were married in the city hall by the county clerk on December 8, 2013.
Craving a respite from Chicago winters, we relocated to Henderson, Nevada, in 2015 (although Clay continued to work in Chicago until 2019). We have since both retired and relocated to Colorado (and yes, back to winter weather) to live closer to our family.
Neither of us had any church affiliation as adults, but after we settled into our new lives in Colorado, we decided to expand our circle of friends and search for a community of liberal, like-minded individuals where we would feel welcome and be able to develop meaningful friendships. We chose to join First Unitarian after meeting Reverend Mike and members of the congregation. We are excited to now be full-fledged members and look forward to a new chapter in life here with our new friends.
We are passionate dog lovers and have had a series of rescue adoptees in our home over the years. They have all provided us with enormous joy. We currently share our home with Zak, a 13-year-old terrier-mix. Our other interests include spending time at family events, traveling, reading, and watching movies.
