FUSD has generally been intentional and successful in welcoming newcomers, educating them about the congregation, and facilitating the path from newcomer to a member or committed visitor/friend. However, FUSD lacks the necessary organizational structure to promote meaningful engagement of individuals and families in the community to optimally support their potential for long-term commitment to and support of the FUSD community. This is borne out by the observation that many people continue to visit, participate, or even join for brief periods, then quietly disappear, frequently within a few weeks or months of their initial involvement with FUSD.
The Board of Trustees (BOT) approved the FUSE Taskforce in 2019. The goal is to work with the BOT and engage key existing committees to create and support the programs, structures, processes, and culture that successfully facilitate meaningful engagement and retention of new members and visitors/friends, especially young individuals and families with school-age children, focusing on the first two years of membership/involvement.
The Board will reinvigorate this effort in the coming Board year. If you are interested in helping, please reach out to BOT@fusden.org and let us know.
