Join us on May 25th at 10:30 am.  In honor of Memorial Day, we will reflect on some Buddhist philosophy and its application to our times.

We warmly invite you to join us in person, or if you prefer, you can also participate online. We look forward to seeing you there!

Our service streams to Youtube and Zoom (meeting ID is 466-677-668 and the password is 454623).

Join us for coffee in the Community Room after the service.

Exploring Possibility of Two Services at First Unitarian

As our community continues to grow, we’re thoughtfully exploring the possibility of moving to two Sunday services. This change could create more space, flexibility, and opportunity for deeper connection — but your voice is essential in shaping the path forward.

We invite you to watch this short video, which outlines the reasons we’re considering this shift and what it could mean for our congregation.

After watching, please take a moment to complete the survey and share your thoughts. Your input will help guide our next steps.

[Click here to take the survey.]

Thank you for being a vital part of our community.

Miriam’s Book Table is Proud to Feature…

(Thanks to Nan Wigington for the post)

The Political Emerson, edited by David M. Robinson.

Was Emerson political? You bet he was. He lived in a time as turbulent as ours. He couldn’t help himself. Politics and social reform were at the top of his list. Come check out this collection of Emerson essays at the book table during coffee hour.

The book table will be closing for the summer. Want to make sure it opens again in the fall? Sign up to volunteer at the table.

Lay Ministry Training Opportunity

(Thanks to Rev. Cindy Pincus for the post)

I’m writing because this summer from July-September I’m offering a three month lay ministry training program at my ‘congregation’ Mountain Vista Senior Living in Wheatridge.

Volunteers will be working with ~200 elders at my facility ranging including folks in memory care, skilled nursing, and assisted/independent living. The program is appropriate for folks aged 16 and up.

We’re providing robust onboarding training and ongoing monthly interdisciplinary trainings (hospice, social services, dementia/alzheimers, etc.). Volunteers will have a chance to give direct care ministry to residents, participate in group spiritual activities like Bible Study and Worship, and receive one-on-one mentorship with me. At the end of the program volunteers will have the opportunity to continue volunteering with us if it’s been a good experience.

If you know any folks in thecongregation who might be a good fit for this work, or if you’d be willing to add it to your announcements or bulletin, I’ll be hosting an info session and trainings in June. Info below and attached.

Info Session: June 8th 4-5pm MT on Zoom at this link – https://us06web.zoom.us/j/4028312198?omn=84366065013

Guns to Gardens is an amazing organization that lets people drop off their unwanted firearms which are then converted to garden tools. There ia one remaining event coming up – July 19. You can help in two ways. Circulate this poster anywhere you hang out. Volunteer on May 10 and/or July 19. I have done it before and it is well organized and very gratifying. If you’re interested in volunteering or want more information, email me at julie.meyers.md@gmail.com.
