Sunday Worship,
May 24th, 2026
at 9:15 & 11 am
What is Asked and What is Given
Rev. Michael DeSantis
|
Join us on May 24th at 9:15 and 11 am. This coming Monday marks Memorial Day, a holiday honoring American military members who have died while serving our country. It is a complicated holiday for many Unitarian Universalists. This week, we will reflect on — and wrestle with — the nature of both service and sacrifice.
|
We warmly invite you to join us in person, or if you prefer, you can also participate online. We look forward to seeing you there!
Our service streams at 9:15 am to Youtube and Zoom (meeting ID is 466-677-668 and the password is 454623).
Join us for coffee in the Community Room after each service.

Attention First Unitarian Drivers: Parking Pass Update
|
Effective Sunday, May 17, 2026, we are collecting all LAZ parking passes—including both rearview mirror hang tags and paper passes. Please bring your old parking pass to church this Sunday to exchange it for a new one. A parking table will be available in the Community Room to collect old passes and answer any questions you may have.
Due to a change in management of the Alta parking lot located across Lafayette Street, new parking passes for this lot will now be labeled “FUSD Church Parking.”
Please note that the approved parking days and hours remain unchanged:
Weekdays: Parking is permitted after 6:00 PM
Saturdays & Sundays: Parking is permitted all day

The First Unitarian Society of Denver’s annual business meeting is May 31st after the 9:15 service. There will not be a second service on that day. The Board of Trustees had hoped to have a vote on new church bylaws. However, that has been deferred to a special meeting that will occur at the beginning of the next church year (Sept-October). In the meantime, the new bylaws will be posted in First Announce and Order of Service. The BOT will hold Q&A sessions in preparation for the special meeting.

Primary Grades OWL Classes Will Be Offered This Fall
|
(Thanks to Leslie Harvey for the post)
WHOOOOO is ready? We are excited to announce that elementary OWL (Our Whole Lives) classes will return this fall! For more than 25 years, UU congregations have offered this life-affirming, comprehensive sexuality education program that helps children build self-esteem, healthy relationships, body awareness, and decision-making skills.
Leslie, Ellory Boyd, and Robin Keith recently completed the required UUA training and are preparing to offer an 8-week OWL series for elementary-aged children beginning in September. Depending on interest and family commitment, we will offer either a K/1, 1st/2nd, or 2nd/3rd grade class.
If you have children, grandchildren, or family friends in grades K–3 who may be interested, please complete and share this interest survey by June 7. Survey responses will help determine which grade levels we offer.
Workshops are developmentally appropriate and include topics such as bodies, boundaries, families, pregnancy and birth, and babies. Questions? Contact Leslie or speak with her before or after Sunday services.

Waitlist for Free House Concerts This Summer
|
Would you like to attend a house concert this summer—hear great music, enjoy delicious food, and meet people of different generations—but the cost makes it difficult? Here’s an opportunity for you.
Occasionally, ticket holders have to cancel at the last minute and donate their seats. Rather than let those spots go empty, which is disappointing to musicians and chefs alike, we’re creating a waitlist for people who would love to attend.
Fill out this short contact form, and when a seat opens up, a group message will be sent out. The first to respond gets the seat. More details are on the form.
It’s a win-win for everyone involved—and a wonderful way to enjoy an evening of music, food, and community.
Please direct any questions to Charlotte Braud-Kern 720-938-7423 or charlottebraudkern@gmail.com

Know Your Rights Training with Denver Justice Project
|
(Thanks to Karen Derrick-Davis for the post)
We hope that everyone will join us for this training. As a congregation we must all be prepared no matter where we are (in the streets, our neighborhood, or at church) to understand our constitutional rights and know the actions to take to protect them.
The Denver Justice Project will provide a Know Your Rights Training workshop that is intended to arm the participants with the knowledge about how to navigate interactions with law-enforcement to their best ability in hopes of the safest possible outcome. This training is also geared to help community members understand their Constitutional Rights and assess interactions with police should their Rights be violated. This event is open to the community. Feel free to share with friends and family.
June 7th – after service (open to FUSD congregants only).
