(Thanks to Patrick Whorton for the post)
Inspired by Mike’s sermon on June 1, we, Patrick Whorton and Sandy Parker, will be hosting a TACO (Trump Always Chickens Out) Party after the NO KINGS protest on June 14. It will start at 6:00 pm, at 1608 Cook Street. We are asking for a minimum donation of $20, per person at the door to pay for the food–the remaining money will be donated to FUSD’s Rapid Response team. We are catering 50 chicken and 50 asada tacos. BYOB. Come join us to strategize, debrief, laugh and have some fun. You don’t have to attend the protest to attend this fundraiser.
Space is limited to 25 people, so the first 25 to RSVP to Patrick at pwhorton@gmail.com get in the door.

Screening of Si Pudiera Quedarme/If I Could Stay
|
(Thanks to Julie Meyers for the post)
The Immigrant Circle of FUSD will be showing “Si Pudiera Quedarme/If I Could Stay”, the documentary about Jeanette Vizguerra and Ingrid Encalada Latorre, on Monday, June 16 in the FUSD Sanctuary at 4:00 p.m. The film is a heart-wrenching and inspiring story of two undocumented Latinx mothers who courageously enter local churches to evade deportation and protect their families. The film’s runtime is 75 minutes and will be followed by a 30-minute talkback featuring Ingrid (by zoom) and Theo Rigby, the filmmaker (in person).
The film will be free to attend, but we plan to collect donations for Jeanette and other families of current detainees at GEO. Following the film, we hope many people will go to the GEO detention facility in Aurora for the Monday night vigil supporting detainees. Please publicize widely within your circles.

Exploring Possibility of Two Services at First Unitarian
|
As our community continues to grow, we’re thoughtfully exploring the possibility of moving to two Sunday services. This change could create more space, flexibility, and opportunity for deeper connection — but your voice is essential in shaping the path forward.
We invite you to watch this short video, which outlines the reasons we’re considering this shift and what it could mean for our congregation.
After watching, please take a moment to complete the survey and share your thoughts. Your input will help guide our next steps.
[Click here to take the survey.]
Thank you for being a vital part of our community.

(Thanks to Lia Davis for the post)
We are seeking help watching our dog Heidi when we travel – we have a couple of week-long trips planned this summer. Heidi is 9.5 years old, an Australian Shepherd / Border Collie mix. Some of you have met Heidi as she belonged to our former custodian Rich Stephen and was frequently at FUSD. She is crate trained and will do best in a home without other pets. Please contact Lia at ldavis@fusden.org if you might be interested in helping out. Thank you!

Volunteer with Guns to Gardens
|
(Thanks to Julie Meyers for the post)
Guns to Gardens is an amazing organization that lets people drop off their unwanted firearms which are then converted to garden tools. There ia one remaining event coming up – July 19. You can help in two ways. Circulate this poster anywhere you hang out. Volunteer on July 19. I have done it before and it is well organized and very gratifying. If you’re interested in volunteering or want more information, email me at julie.meyers.md@gmail.com.
