Meet Becky Hammond!
My husband, Keith, and I transferred our membership in 1993 from Jefferson Unitarian, where we were married, to FUSD, as we lived in Washington Park and were closer to FUSD. We both found areas of interest where we could put our energy and contribute, from Meditation Group to organizing the Auction for many years. Although my husband passed away, I have found tremendous support and benefit from the years of involvement and investment in various committees, social action projects, food preparation of events, musical efforts, and more. The largest benefit for me is the social connections that helped me so much, being newly widowed right before the pandemic. I had connections with many like-minded individuals, outside of family, during that difficult period of isolation. My heart benefits, but also my mind is stretched, and educated by all the years of social action projects I have contributed too, even in small ways. I recommend involvement as a good way to form your own personal education, action, and support network for your heart as well as your conscience and your mind! eart as well as your conscience and your mind!
