Revised and Amended First Unitarian Church Bylaws Forum

The congregation will vote on the revised bylaws on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
In preparation for the vote, an educational forum will be held on Sunday, September 27, following the second church service. At least one member of the Bylaws Task Force and one member of the Board of Trustees will be present to answer questions and provide information about the proposed changes.
Please review the attached revised bylaws before the forum and bring any questions you may have. This will be an opportunity to learn more about the proposed changes and seek clarification before the congregation votes.
Please read the proposed bylaw changes carefully, as some wording has changed since they were first distributed in the spring, particularly regarding financial contributions and available waivers.

The congregation will vote on the proposed revised bylaws on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. You will also have the option to vote via Zoom. The Zoom link will be published next week.
Eligibility to Vote: You must have been a member for at least 60 days prior to the date of the meeting in order to vote.

Please review these documents prior to the meeting. A limited number of printed copies will be available at the meeting. If you would like to refer to the proposed amended bylaws during the meeting, please feel free to bring a laptop, tablet, or phone. This will help us reduce the amount of paper we need to print.

CORE Circle for the Curious

CORE, (Creative, Open, Religious Exploration) is a monthly small group get-together for connection, conversation, and spiritual growth, especially for those exploring their relationship with First Unitarian Denver. Facilitated by Rev. Mike Morran, we will meet at the church on the last Saturday of each month, from 9:00 to 11:00, beginning Saturday, September 26 . All are welcome, but you must register here. Each monthly CORE Circle for the Curious will be limited to twelve participants. Teens and Young Adults welcome!

If you would like a joy or sorrow included in the pastoral prayer during our Sunday morning worship services, please submit this form.
By submitting this form, you give your permission to have your prayer request(s) read aloud by one of our worship leaders. Submitting this form also gives our worship leaders permission to lightly edit submissions or summarize items, if needed.
Note: All First Unitarian worship services are streamed and available for later viewing via YouTube. Do not submit any requests that contain compromising information!

The FALL SHARED MINISTRY FORUM, hosted by your Committee on Shared Ministry, will be held on Saturday, October 24 from 8:45 to 11 am in the Community Room. This event was formerly called the Inter-Connected Committee (ICC) Meeting. This is a gathering to share information and ideas and foster collaboration across our committees, projects, and circles. UUCAN: Solidarity Summit on October 3
|
The Colorado Solidarity Summit will be the first in-person, statewide convening of UUCAN on Saturday, October 3, at the Boulder Valley UU Fellowship in Lafayette. As part of “UU the Vote 2026: Ignite Solidarity, Reimagine Democracy,” solidarity summits like this one are regional interfaith justice training and practice gatherings designed to strengthen relationships, capacities, and skills. The event in Lafayette will focus on deep canvassing skills for defeating harmful ballot measures in November, and training for being on the frontline in potentially hostile environments. Build spiritual community and ground in joyful connection while learning together!

UUCAN: the UU Colorado Action Network

We are a brand new organization called UUCAN which is a Statewide Action Network.
UUCAN is a network of Unitarian Universalist congregations and organizations across Colorado, and their allies and partners, working on creating the necessary changes to address the many challenges brought on by social and environmental injustice.
UUCAN is Colorado’s first UU Statewide Action Network but across the country, there are 28 other UU State Action Networks (SANs)
Maybe you’re already a part of your congregation’s social justice committee or you’ve been out in the streets with activist groups for a while now. You might wonder, “Why bother adding another organizational layer?” A state-level UU action network like UUCAN offers a lot of resources and opportunities like the following:
Timely information on actions affecting your community.
Resources and research on justice issues.
A community of like-minded folks you can activate for specific events.
Support and guidance for getting your congregation involved in justice work at the local level.
Justice-oriented worship services to inspire and inform your congregation
We have monthly statewide Zoom meetings that we’d love to have your participation in. To be included on the list for these statewide meetings, please email help@uucan.love. We’d LOVE to have you!
