Is There Room for Hope?

Climate Justice Project

Join us on April 19th at 9:15 and 11 am. Join the Climate Justice project this Sunday for an Earth Day service where two of our members – Mike Cortés and Stephanie Walton – will share their thoughts on the role of hope as we adapt to a warming planet.

We warmly invite you to join us in person, or if you prefer, you can also participate online. We look forward to seeing you there!

Our service streams at 9:15 am to Youtube and Zoom (meeting ID is 466-677-668 and the password is 454623).

Join us for coffee in the Community Room after each service.

Giving in Action- Sand Creek Regional Greenway Partnership

(Thanks to Noelle Botti for the post)

The Sand Creek Regional Greenway Partnership (SCRGP) is a nonprofit working to build connection, belonging, and stewardship along the Sand Creek Regional Greenway—a 13.1-mile trail, creek, and wildlife corridor across northeast Denver, Aurora, and Commerce City. Through low-barrier, culturally responsive programs in nature-based education, outdoor wellness, community science, and volunteer stewardship, SCRGP engages more than 4,000 community members each year—from ages 3 and up—reflecting the diverse communities along the Greenway.

At the heart of this work are community-led efforts that shape the Greenway itself—like the Sand Creek Art Walk and the Many Destinations initiative—bringing local voices into the creation of welcoming spaces, public art, and trail improvements that reflect and serve the surrounding communities. Mo Fair, its Executive Director, will join us to tell us more about their work and impact on our community.

Religious Exploration News

(Thanks to Leslie Harvey, for the post)

RE classes will be held during the first service, which will begin at 9:15. There will be no RE classes during the second service, which will begin at 11 am each week.

Reminder: please keep children on the rug when playing in the Peaceful Play Space during the beginning of service. We must keep the aisles clear in case of an emergency.

RE classes will hold a fire drill toward the end of class on April 19th. We will teach the children where to exit safely in an emergency and where we would reunite with families, in the case of an evacuation. Parents and guardians will pick up their children in class after service, as usual

(Thanks to Karen Derrick-Davis for the post)

We hope that everyone will join us for this training. As a congregation we must all be prepared no matter where we are (in the streets, our neighborhood, or at church) to understand our constitutional rights and know the actions to take to protect them.

The Denver Justice Project will provide a Know Your Rights Training workshop that is intended to arm the participants with the knowledge about how to navigate interactions with law-enforcement to their best ability in hopes of the safest possible outcome. This training is also geared to help community members understand their Constitutional Rights and assess interactions with police should their Rights be violated. This event is open to the community. Feel free to share with friends and family.
