Religious Exploration

Love working with kids? The Religious Exploration (RE) programs need your help!  Our children are kind, curious, and full of energy. We're seeking committed, dedicated, & reliable teachers to provide the best Religious Exploration possible for our children and growing families.

Annual Auction

Our Annual Auction is an important fundraising event for the church and a great way to bring people together. Do you have a special talent, skill, or a unique service to offer? Can you host a dinner? Then you've come to the right place. If you'd like to donate an item, we are focusing on Juried Fine Arts and Crafts, high quality Goods, Take Home/Homemade Foods, Themed Baskets, Services, Getaways, Dinners , events, and fellowship activities.

Homeless ministries

During our family promise program our FUSD community provides church-based shelter, food, transportation, and hospitality for families who are experiencing homelessness on their way to self-sufficiency. We host families for a one-week period four times each year. Volunteer opportunities include: Cooking meals, giving rides, turning classrooms into cozy bedrooms, and much more. 

Sunday service help

Our Sunday Services are a great place to meet new friends, commune with old ones, and lend a helping hand! We have volunteer opportunities for ushers, greeters, sound engineers, media personnel, readers, and other admin staff depending on the type of service and time of year. Nobody ever leaves a Sunday volunteer service without a great sense of pride and a smile on their face. 

Joining a COMMITTEE

Want to get to know the great work our committee members do? Join us for a meeting or church event. Our elected committees range in focus area from grounds committee taking care of our beautiful space to Board of Directors guiding long term decision making. The caring committee

The caring committee facilitates connections between congregants who need
help and those who wish to help. Our philosophy is that every member of FUSD
is a member of the Caring Committee both in giving and receiving. We provide
meals, rides to doctor appointments, childcare, as well as many other services. 

connections ministry

Responsible for helping First Unitarian members, friends and visitors build and strengthen the connections that make our community a loving, supportive and spiritual place to belong. We brainstorm ways to make
breaking into this community easier for new comers and host a variety of
events during the year to welcome new members into our community.

Social Justice initiatives

Have a heart for social justice? Moved by issues like homelessness, gay rights, immigration, the environment? We have a place for you. Our social justice work resonates through every wall of our church. Our volunteers organize rallies, education sessions, partnerships with other organizations, and difficult conversations that make us more just. 

Music Program

Come sing with us! The  music program volunteers make music, developing community music events & concerts, manage the budget, hire staff, and support the program.  Anyone
interested in the music program is welcome to join.
