First Unitarian’s music program is led by Music Director Sarah Deveau and Worship Musician Lia Davis, in collaboration with our minister Mike Morran and the Music Committee.

Sarah Deveau is a choral conductor and singer originally from the Boston area. She moved to Colorado five years ago to pursue a doctoral degree in choral conducting at CU Boulder where she served as conductor of the University Women's Chorus and graduate instructor of undergraduate choral conducting. While completing her masters degree at Boston University, Sarah began her long-lasting connection with Unitarian Universalism, as choir director at the UU Church of Reading, MA. When not at FUSD, studying, or teaching voice lessons, Sarah spends her time reading, knitting, cooking, and singing with Colorado Conductors' Chorus.
Lia Davis began playing piano by ear at age five, has fourteen years of classical training, and is an accomplished musician across many genres, including jazz, Argentine tango, folk, and pop. Piano is her native instrument, though she also sings and plays accordion, organ, electric bass, folk harp, and drum set. Fascinated by learning and how to facilitate others' learning, Lia teaches piano to students of all ages and skill levels. Her other interests include dancing, cooking, architecture, and improvisation (in all areas of life). A Colorado native, Lia returned to Denver in 2007 after having lived in Boston for six years.
