Getting involved at FUSD

First Unitarian Society is a busy place. It can be challenging to know how to get involved. Below are a few opportunities in which newer people may get connected. Please email connectionsministry@gmail.com with any questions!

First Announce is our weekly email newsletter that informs members and friends of what is going on at First Unitarian and in the surrounding community. Sign up to receive First Announce

Finding Yourself at First Unitarian is our class for newcomers interested in knowing more about FUSD and Unitarian Universalism. Taught by Rev. Mike Morran, this is a great gathering to ask your questions and to connect with others who are also exploring their relationship to First Unitarian. On the following Sunday, we invite you to join us for brunch at a local diner with members of Connections Ministry. Email office@fusden.org to register.

Connecting at First Unitarian

Vespers and Whole Souul Supper is a monthly worship and potluck on the first Wednesday evening, October - May. Vespers starts at 6:00 pm and is led by a member of our ministry team or by a visiting minister. This is generally a more intimate worship that includes time for spiritual practice and contemplation. Whole Souul Supper, a community potluck, follows at 6:30 pm. Childcare is available.

Core Circles are our version of small group ministry. These groups meet monthly, discuss a variety of spiritual topics and are a great way to make deeper connections. Email Ange Barnes at angela_barnes48@yahoo.com to get connected!

20s and 30s Group is a group of folks in their 20s and 30s who gather each month to talk about spirituality, share potluck meals, hang out, and play an occasional board game. Monthly gatherings might include 2nd Sunday Brunch, Holy Happy Hour (4th Saturday beer, coffee, and spiritual conversations), or a Circle Worship and Potluck. There is also a 2nd Sunday Brunch. Meet in the Community Room following the 2nd service (~12:15p) to go and get brunch together in the neighborhood.

Faith in Action

One of our vision statement at FUSD is that Justice is Realized. Justice is a core part of who we are, why we gather, and what we do as a community. Please join us in the work we do to support our local community.

WHI: Every other Friday, we host 20 women through the Women’s Homelessness Initiative. If you are interested in helping cook dinner, breakfast, or being an overnight host, please email Matt LeMay matt.c.lemay@gmail.com or Carol Friesen friesen.carol@gmail.com

Family Promise: Four times a year, First Unitarian hosts families who are homeless for 10 days. This requires many volunteers each cycle! If you would like to help host these families, please email Mardi Moore mardimoore@forethought.net
